The Role
A vacancy has arisen for a Mechanical Team Member to join the Operations team based at the 20” Pipe Mill, Hartlepool. You will provide first-line technical expertise to manufacturing areas to ensure maximum availability of mechanical equipment within the 20” Mill.
The Mechanical Team Member will be responsible for conducting all aspects of the job in a safe manner and adhere to statutory and mandatory safety regulations, procedures and policies. You will execute planned maintenance tasks effectively, working through the task schedule in order of priority.
As part of the role, the Mechanical Team Member will be responsible for suggesting and implementing improvements to process control systems. Also to ensure that any deficiencies found are repaired expediently and that repairs are robust enough to prevent a recurrence. You will provide first line technical expertise and assistance to the Manufacturing areas to minimise plant downtime.
This position will operate on a 20-rota shift pattern of work for which the basic annual salary plus a shift allowance of 27.5% upon demonstration of competency. The shift rota is 2 days 2 nights, 4 days off. Upon demonstration of site specific competency there is scope for salary to increase to £48,830 including shift allowance.
The Candidate
The Mechanical Team Member must have a mechanical apprenticeship, ideally gained in an industrial environment and also have experience of working effectively within a team. You should have a systematic problem solving approach (accurate problem description, ability to rank potential causes in order and communicate next step activities).
It is essential that the Mechanical Team Member is an excellent communicator, with good interpersonal skills and an ability to articulate efficiently with a range of individuals on site. Computer literacy is also fundamental to the success of the role.
Experience working with and fault finding on hydraulic systems, including accumulators, safety blocks, making and fitting hoses, pumps and setting system pressure reliefs alongside a good understanding of PSSR regulations is advantageous.
