Experienced Farm Manager – Onion Production
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Farm Manager to oversee our commercial onion-growing operation. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on professional with a strong background in vegetable crop production and farm management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, manage, and supervise all aspects of onion production from land preparation to harvest.
- Develop and implement crop production schedules, including planting, irrigation, fertilisation, pest and disease control.
- Manage and supervise farm staff, ensuring productivity, safety, and quality standards are maintained.
- Monitor crop health and implement best farming practices to maximise yield and quality.
- Operate and oversee the maintenance of farm machinery and equipment.
- Maintain accurate production records, budgets, and inventory.
- Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety, environmental, and quality assurance requirements.
Requirements:
- Proven experience managing commercial onion or vegetable farming operations.
- Strong knowledge of onion growing/experience, irrigation systems, soil management.
- Experience leading and motivating farm teams.
- Ability to plan, organise, and solve problems effectively.
- Competence in operating modern agricultural machinery and equipment.
- A current driver's licence (heavy vehicle licence and chemical handling certification are advantageous).
