We are a nurturing Children's Residential Home providing high-quality care and support for young people aged 7–17 years with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). We are looking for compassionate, resilient and motivated Support Workers to join our dedicated team.
The Role
As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in helping young people feel safe, valued and supported. Working within a 2:1 staffing model, you will provide consistent, individualised care tailored to each young person's needs, promoting their emotional wellbeing, independence and personal development.
Every day is different, and you'll build positive relationships while supporting children to overcome challenges and celebrate achievements.
Key Responsibilities
· Build trusting, professional relationships with young people.
· Provide high-quality emotional and practical support in line with individual care plans.
· Work within a 2:1 staffing ratio to ensure safe, consistent and therapeutic care.
· Support young people to attend education, appointments and activities.
· Encourage independence, life skills and positive decision-making.
· Promote positive behaviour using therapeutic and trauma-informed approaches.
· Maintain accurate daily records, incident reports and safeguarding documentation.
· Work closely with colleagues and external professionals to achieve positive outcomes.
· Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people at all times.
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
· Passionate about making a positive difference in young people's lives.
· Calm, patient and resilient when managing challenging behaviour.
· A strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.
· Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
· Flexible to work shifts, weekends, bank holidays and sleep-ins where required.
· Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Essential Requirements
· Experience working with children or young people, preferably within residential care, EBD, SEND or a similar setting.
· Good written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to build positive professional relationships.
· Full UK driving licence (preferred).
· Right to work in the UK.
Desirable
· Level 3/4 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards it).
· Knowledge of trauma-informed practice, safeguarding and behaviour support strategies.
· Experience working in a 2:1 residential care setting.
