Teqniq is searching for a Triage/Housing Options Officer to work in the public sector.
37 hours per week.
26 week contract.
Must work 3 days in the office - 9am - 5pm.
Job Description:
To consider and assess homelessness applications in accordance with the Housing Act 1996 Part 7 as amended by the Homeless Reduction Act 2017
- To assess, assist, advise and determine customers housing options/homelessness, at Triage stage, providing the authority’s statutory obligations in relation to initial approach and ongoing homeless related statutory services including the s179 notifications via direct communication via phone, email or in person, with members of the public seeking support or advice
- To ensure that the authority complies with its statutory duties in providing the above, with reference to the Homeless Reduction Act 2017 and Parts VI and VII, the Housing Act, Renters Rights Act and taking into account, the relevant codes of guidance, case law and agreed legislative and service standards
- To negotiate with landlords, family members and other agencies, both statutory and non-statutory to find the best solutions to clients housing needs and seeking to prevent homelessness wherever possible
- To provide consistently high quality Housing Advice regarding complex and sensitive matters including but not limited to Domestic Abuse, tenancy rights and evictions etc.
- To work closely with all internal teams and provide support as required, enabling an effective Housing Service.
- To provide verbal and written advice on a wide range of housing and related matters to anyone approaching the authority, working closely with other colleagues and partners.
- Ensure case files, notes and systems are all updated with details of all contacts and case progression, including upload documents/letters and so on.
- To support diversity and inclusion across the service area in terms of service delivery and partnership working.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience (Tested at application and interview stage)
Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
A high standard of knowledge and experience Homeless Reduction Act 2017 and Parts VI and VII, the Housing Act, Renters Rights Act and taking into account, the relevant codes of guidance, case law and agreed legislative and service standards.
- Able to accurately complete various forms relating to the recording of personal and statistical information and possessing a thorough understanding of the need for accuracy and confidentiality.
- Good standard of written and spoken English
- Clear understanding of issues relating to equalities and diversity.
- Good problem-solving, negotiation, interviewing and IT skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and able to embrace change for continuing service improvement.
- Ability to prioritise, work under pressure to tight deadlines and good organisational skills.
- Conscientious, with an ability to work on your own initiative, self-motivated and able to problem-solve.
