CASUAL CATERING ASSISTANT – NAEC STONELEIGH
Pay: £12.71 per hour, paid monthly

Working pattern: Event-based shifts across weekdays and weekends, including daytime, early mornings and evenings

Grandstand Stoneleigh Events manages NAEC Stoneleigh, one of the UK’s leading exhibition and conference venues.
We host more than 200 events each year, ranging from major business-to-business and consumer exhibitions to corporate conferences, awards, outdoor events and special-interest shows.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for reliable, friendly and practical Casual Catering Assistants to join our busy events team.
This is a varied, hands-on role involving customer service, food service, basic food preparation, till operation, cleaning and setting up catering areas.
Previous catering or customer-service experience is preferred but not essential, as the required training will be provided.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serving food and refreshments to visitors, exhibitors, delegates and clients.
- Operating tills and handling customer transactions accurately.
- Assisting with basic food preparation, pot washing and other back-of-house duties.
- Setting up catering areas according to instructions from managers, supervisors, chefs and event managers.
- Cleaning, clearing down and restocking cafés, bars, hospitality areas and event spaces.
- Loading and unloading food, tableware, equipment and catering supplies.
- Providing friendly, helpful and professional customer service, including during busy service periods.
- Working flexibly across different catering areas as required.
FOOD SAFETY AND PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS
- Complete the required food hygiene, allergen awareness and health and safety training before commencing work. All required training will be provided by NAEC Stoneleigh.
- Follow all food safety, allergen, cleaning, personal hygiene and health and safety procedures.
- Never guess or provide unverified allergen information. All allergen queries must be referred to the chef or designated manager.
- Arrive for every shift clean, presentable and ready to work, with high standards of personal hygiene.
- Wear the correct workwear and suitable footwear.
- No jewellery or watches may be worn while working.
- Hair must be clean and secured. Nails must be short, clean and free from nail varnish or false nails.
- Report any illness or symptoms that could present a food-safety risk before attending work.
- Immediately report accidents, hazards, contamination, damaged equipment or pest activity.
- Complete any required food-safety, temperature, cleaning or operational records accurately.
REPORTING LINES
The role reports to the Catering Operations Manager, Catering Supervisor and chefs on duty. You may also receive day-to-day direction from the Event Manager, Duty Manager or another appointed team leader.
