DTG Trees & Grounds Ltd is expanding, and we're looking for an experienced Second Climber / Groundsman to join our growing team.
As an Arboricultural Association Approved Contractor, we take pride in carrying out tree work to the highest professional standards. We're looking for someone who genuinely cares about doing the job properly, works safely, takes pride in their workmanship, and wants to be part of a business with a strong reputation for quality.
Working across Devon, you'll be involved in a wide variety of arboricultural projects for domestic, commercial and local authority clients using modern equipment alongside an experienced and supportive team.
About the Role
As a Second Climber / Groundsman, you'll support our lead climbers while continuing to develop your own skills. Duties include:
- Tree climbing and aerial rescue operations
- Tree pruning and dismantling to BS3998 standards
- Ground-based chainsaw work and felling operations
- Rigging, lowering and supporting aerial operations
- Operating woodchippers and arboricultural machinery
- Hedge cutting and vegetation management
- Maintaining a safe, clean and professional work site
We're Looking For Someone Who:
- Has at least 2–3 years' arboricultural experience
- Is a confident Second Climber and competent Groundsman
- Takes pride in producing high-quality work
- Has a positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Wants to continually improve and work to industry best practice
- Fits well within a professional, friendly team
Essential / Desirable Qualifications
- Chainsaw qualifications (NPTC or equivalent)
- Tree Climbing & Aerial Rescue qualifications
- Woodchipper certification
- Full UK Driving Licence (preferred)
- First Aid +F (desirable)
- Additional tickets such as MEWP, PA1/PA6, stump grinder or towing are advantageous
