Part-Time Venue Supervisor – Soft Play & Dessert Venue
£13.00 per hour | 21 hours per week | 3 days per week | West Sussex
About SHWEET
SHWEET is a family run soft play and dessert venue in West Sussex, offering children's soft play alongside a dessert parlour serving gelato, waffles, milkshakes, coffee and other treats.
We are looking for a reliable, hands on Venue Supervisor to join our small team and help us run the venue safely, efficiently and to a consistently high standard.
This is not a desk based management position. We are looking for someone who is happy getting stuck in and doing whatever is required to keep the venue running properly.
The Role
You will be one of the senior members of the team and, during quieter periods, may be responsible for running the venue independently.
You could be serving customers one minute, cleaning the play equipment the next, preparing food or drinks, dealing with a customer query or making sure the venue is ready for the next session.
You will need to be comfortable taking responsibility and making decisions without someone constantly standing over you.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Running the day-to-day operation of the venue during your shifts
- Opening and closing the premises when required
- Ensuring children's safety and our policies and procedures are followed
- Providing friendly and professional customer service
- Supervising and supporting other team members
- Working independently when required
- Serving food, desserts, drinks and coffee
- Basic food preparation and maintaining food hygiene standards
- Operating the EPOS/till and handling payments
- Cleaning tables, toilets, floors and play equipment
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and presentation
- Completing routine checks and ensuring issues are dealt with promptly
- Monitoring stock and replenishing supplies
- Dealing confidently and appropriately with customer queries or complaints
- Supporting children's parties and private hires when required
- Following opening, closing, cleaning, safety and operational procedures
- Escalating significant issues to the business owners when appropriate
We are looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience in hospitality, leisure, retail, soft play, childcare or a similar customer-facing environment
- Has a good working knowledge of food hygiene and food safety procedures
- Understands stock rotation, FIFO, date checking, food storage and allergen controls
- Is comfortable maintaining food safety records, cleaning schedules and temperature checks
- Understands the importance of maintaining standards expected by Environmental Health and being able to confidently deal with an Environmental Health Officer or inspection
- Previous experience working within a food, hospitality or licensed premises environment is highly desirable
- Is confident working independently
- Is reliable, punctual and takes responsibility seriously
- Is comfortable working directly with business owners in a small, family run company
- Has a practical, hands on attitude
- Doesn't mind cleaning and getting stuck into the less glamorous jobs!
- Can remain calm and professional when things become busy or challenging
- Has good communication skills
- Can lead by example rather than simply delegate
- Understands that maintaining standards is everyone's responsibility
- Is comfortable working around children and families
- Can follow established procedures while also using common sense
Previous supervisory or management experience would be advantageous,.

- Opportunity to take on additional responsibility as the business grows

Important
SHWEET is an owner operated family business, not a large corporate organisation.
We value direct communication, common sense, accountability and high standards. You will work closely with the business owners and there will be times when we are working alongside you on the floor.
We are looking for someone who is comfortable with that environment and who takes pride in leaving the venue better than they found it.
If you are looking for a role where you can simply turn up, do the minimum and leave the responsibility to somebody else, this probably isn't the role for you.
If you are someone who enjoys being busy, takes pride in their work and wants to become a trusted member of a growing local business, we'd love to hear from you.
Pay: From £13.00 per hour
Benefits:
- Employee discount
- Free parking
- On-site parking
