The Position
We are looking for a Trainee Steering Guidance Operative to join our growing trenchless technology team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career within the utilities and civil engineering sector.
Working alongside our experienced operatives, you will receive on the job training in the operation of steering guidance and guided pilot boring systems. No previous experience is required, although experience in construction or utilities may be advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
· Assist experienced steering guidance operatives with guided pilot boring operations
· Learn to operate steering guidance equipment and tracking systems and interpret guidance data
· Carry out daily checks of plant and equipment
· Read and interpret site drawings, bore profiles and ground investigation reports
· Work closely with site supervisors and drill operators to ensure safe and efficient site operations
· Assist in carrying out land and site surveys using GPS equipment
· Maintain accurate site records
Skills and Experience
Essential:
· A positive attitude and willingness to learn with a n interest in utilities or trenchless technology
· Good computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office
· Experience using AutoCAD
· GCSE Maths (Grade 5/C or above) or an equivalent mathematics qualification
· Ability to work both on site and in an office environment
· Full UK Driving Licence
Desirable:
· Qualification in Civil Engineering, Surveying or similar
· A Certified AutoCAD qualification
· CSCS labourer card
· Experience in construction or utilities
