Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Landscape Supervisor to oversee and coordinate a variety of outdoor maintenance projects. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in landscape maintenance and gardening, with the ability to lead a team effectively. This role involves managing daily operations, ensuring high standards of quality, and maintaining safety protocols across all projects. A solid understanding of construction, gardening, and the use of power tools is essential to succeed in this position. To deliver high-quality gardening and small landscaping projects for clients , while mentoring and supervising young people on structured work experience programmes. The post holder will play a key role in developing young people’s practical skills, confidence, and work-readiness, supporting them to gain entry-level qualifications and progress into employment within the construction, landscaping, and gardening sectors. The role combines hands-on outdoor work with coaching, safeguarding, and positive role-modelling in line with the values and mission of the Charity.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate landscape maintenance activities, including planting, pruning, mowing.
- Oversee the utilisation of hand tools and ensure proper safety procedures are followed during all operations
- Execute landscaping projects from inception to completion, ensuring deadlines are met
- Conduct routine inspections of work sites to ensure quality standards and safety compliance are maintained
- Manage team schedules, assign tasks, and provide training on equipment use and maintenance
- Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and materials needed for various projects
- Ensure environmental regulations and health & safety standards are adhered to at all times
- · Responsible for delivering a work experience programme. This includes monitoring young people on work experience and helping them achieve their Health and Safety qualifications.
- Providing training in the use of basic work tools, whilst adhering to the necessary Health & Safety guidelines.
- Monitoring learners in ‘Realtime’ working activities and keep basic journals on their progress.
- Working with hard-to-reach individuals who are likely to face multiple barriers to gaining employment .
- To contribute to the development of the learners, including breadth and depth of learning, development of employability skills, attitudes, and behaviours.
- Ensure at all times projects are undertaken in a safe manner and young people are kept safe when on site.
- Safely transport young people and equipment between sites in our vans.
Skills
- Proven experience in landscape maintenance practices
- Skilled in the use of hand tools for gardening and construction tasks
- Strong leadership abilities with excellent organisational skills
- Good communication skills for liaising with clients and team members
- Knowledge of environmental sustainability practices in landscaping projects
- Physical fitness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Attention to detail with a focus on safety standards at all times
