Job Overview
Whiteford House is looking for a reliable, hardworking and dedicated Domestic Assistant to join our team.
The Domestic Assistant plays an important role in maintaining a clean, safe, welcoming and hygienic environment for our residents, visitors and staff. You will be responsible for carrying out a range of cleaning duties throughout the home while following our infection prevention and control procedures and maintaining high standards at all times.
We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, has good attention to detail and understands the importance of maintaining a clean environment within a care setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out daily cleaning duties throughout the home, including bedrooms, communal areas, bathrooms, offices and other designated areas.
- Dust, sweep, mop and vacuum floors and surfaces as required.
- Clean and sanitise high-touch areas and frequently used surfaces.
- Clean windows, furniture, fixtures and fittings as required.
- Empty bins and dispose of waste safely and appropriately.
- Replenish cleaning and hygiene supplies when required.
- Follow daily and weekly cleaning schedules to ensure all areas are maintained to a high standard.
- Follow infection prevention and control procedures at all times.
- Follow COSHH procedures when handling cleaning products and chemicals.
- Use cleaning equipment safely and correctly and report any faults or issues.
- Ensure cleaning products and equipment are stored safely.
- Report any maintenance, health and safety or environmental concerns to the appropriate member of staff.
- Work respectfully around residents, ensuring their privacy, dignity and personal space are maintained.
- Work as part of the wider team to help maintain a positive and welcoming environment within Whiteford House.

Experience & Qualifications
- Previous cleaning experience is desirable but not essential.
- Experience working within a care, healthcare or similar environment would be an advantage.
- Knowledge of infection prevention and control and COSHH is desirable.
- Training will be provided where required.
