Post No. POSN003419 - Principal Environmental Health Officer (Pollution)
We are pleased to offer a full time, permanent post of Principal Environmental Health Officer leading our Environmental Protection (EP) Team within the Environment and Public Health Service.
You will be responsible for the daily management, supervision and leadership of the EP Team. Which consists of:
2 Environmental Health Officers,
- 2 Pollution Control Officers,
- 2 Community Safety Enforcement Officers
- A Scientific Cell of 3 staff covering Air Quality and Contaminated Land.
You will ensure the functions of the team are delivered in accordance with the Council’s and the Service Area’s performance targets and policies. You will ensure the team provide an effective, efficient and responsive service for customers across the City, and be the lead officer on all Environmental Protection matters.
The successful candidate will see a varied and dynamic role with no two days the same. You will lead on the delivery of day-to-day team functions such as Statutory Nuisance investigations and planning applications through to delivering Waste Operations with our partners in Police, National Resources Wales and Trading Standards. You will support on advising Event Organisers at Safety Advisory Groups from a noise control perspective.
You should possess a degree or diploma in Environmental Health and have EHORB registration (or equivalent). You should have a minimum of five year’s specialist working knowledge and skills in Pollution, Noise, Waste and Fly tipping. Previous experience of managing and leading a team, and a Noise and Acoustics diploma would be a great advantage.
