An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate Casual Assistant Stop Manager to join the St Vincent de Paul Society (or as it is often known – the SVP) based in London (including shops in Hackney, Holloway, Sidcup, Enfield, Willesden Green) This is a casual role (0 hours) to work in various shops in the area to cover for sickness, holidays or help in peak periods.
We operate over 40 community shops across England and Wales as well as having an online offering through channels such as eBay. Our charity shops are a major part of our support for local communities. They provide affordable goods and volunteering opportunities. They sell good quality preloved items at reasonable prices, play a significant role in the local reuse and sustainability agenda, and provide a visible presence of the Society.
The ideal candidate will have retail experience and use their drive and passion for charity retail to maximise sales and customer satisfaction in the shops they work. It will take creativity, people and communication skills, and an optimistic can-do attitude in order to help make the shops great. Working Hours = No guaranteed hours (0 hours to cover periods of staff absence)
Location = London (including Hackney, Holloway, Sidcup, Enfield, Willesden Green)
Contract = Casual
Pay = £14.80 per hour
Requirements = This role is subject to 2 satisfactory references

Your main responsibilities:
- Ensure to achieve income via shop sales, Gift Aid, donations, recycling, online selling and any other ethical routes in line with our values
- Maximise Gift Aid and deliver a consistent percentage appropriate to the shop location and ensure all donors are asked if they can Gift Aid
- Ensure adequate generation of good quality stock through local donations
- Supervise, lead and develop the shop team of Volunteers
- Be a key holder for the shop/ building
- Assist with the management of shop’s social media channels within the guidance of the SVP values, in order to engage in the online community
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
- Excellent customer service skills
- Retail experience
- Creativity
- A drive and passion for charity retail
- A good standard of numeracy, literacy and IT skills
- Flexibility to work at short notice and in various shops
It’s a bonus if you are able to demonstrate:
- Charity retail experience and working with volunteers
- Experience of EPOS system
