About the Role
This role is ideal for a technically capable professional with experience in networking, troubleshooting, connectivity, and infrastructure support. You will work closely with systems engineers, technical support teams, cybersecurity specialists, service providers, and clients to maintain reliable, secure, and high-performing network services.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, and related network equipment.
- Monitor network performance, availability, bandwidth utilisation, and connectivity.
- Investigate and resolve network outages, latency issues, packet loss, and connectivity problems.
- Configure VLANs, routing protocols, network segmentation, and access controls.
- Support LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, and virtual private network environments.
- Maintain IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, and other core network services.
- Assist with the deployment and upgrade of network infrastructure.
- Conduct network-health checks and identify potential performance or capacity issues.
- Support firewall configuration and network-security improvements.
- Troubleshoot connectivity between offices, cloud platforms, data centres, and remote users.
- Maintain accurate network diagrams, configuration records, and technical documentation.
- Coordinate with internet service providers and telecommunications suppliers.
- Support new-office and customer-site network installations.
- Assist with network migrations and infrastructure-modernisation projects.
- Monitor alerts generated by network-management systems.
- Maintain secure backups of network-device configurations.
- Investigate recurring incidents and recommend permanent technical solutions.
- Support disaster-recovery and business-continuity planning for network services.
- Assist with vulnerability remediation and network-security reviews.
- Provide technical guidance to service-desk and infrastructure colleagues.
What We Are Looking For
- At least 2–4 years of experience in network engineering, network support, infrastructure engineering, or a similar position.
- Good understanding of TCP/IP networking and common network protocols.
- Practical experience configuring routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless networks.
- Knowledge of VLANs, DNS, DHCP, NAT, VPNs, and routing.
- Experience troubleshooting network-performance and connectivity problems.
- Understanding of network-security and access-control principles.
- Familiarity with network-monitoring and diagnostic tools.
- Ability to read and maintain technical network diagrams.
- Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills.
- Ability to document technical changes accurately.
- Strong communication skills when working with technical colleagues, suppliers, and customers.
- Ability to manage several incidents and infrastructure tasks simultaneously.
- Strong written and spoken English.
- A degree or professional qualification in networking, computer science, information technology, telecommunications, or a related discipline is preferred.
Preferred Skills
- Cisco CCNA, CompTIA Network+, Juniper, Fortinet, or another relevant networking certification.
- Experience with Cisco, Aruba, Fortinet, Juniper, Ubiquiti, or comparable networking platforms.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services networking.
- Knowledge of SD-WAN technologies.
- Experience with network-monitoring platforms such as PRTG, SolarWinds, Zabbix, or similar tools.
- Understanding of network-access control and zero-trust principles.
- Familiarity with VoIP and unified communications systems.
- Experience supporting multi-site business networks.
- Knowledge of PowerShell, Python, or another scripting language.
- Understanding of Cyber Essentials or ISO 27001 security practices.
- Experience working for a managed service provider or telecommunications business.

Pay: £37,399.02-£44,053.43 per year
