Job summary
We are seeking a Locum Consultant Cardiologist in Advanced Heart Failure, Mechanical Circulatory Support and Heart Transplantation.
You will work within a highly skilled and collaborative Cardiothoracic Transplant team, contributing to a wide range of specialist services including advanced heart failure, short and longer-term mechanical circulatory support, peri-operative medicine, intensive care medicine and immediate and life-long post heart transplant care including management of complex co-morbid patients.
The role offers opportunities to shape your job plan, pursue specialist interests, and collaborate with experts from across the Cambridge Biomedical Campus - home to Cambridge University Hospitals, Cancer Research UK, AstraZeneca, and the Victor Phillip Dahdaleh Heart and Lung Research Institute.
Main duties, tasks & skills required
Care of transplant patients in conjunction with the other transplant physicians throughout the assessment process, immediate post-transplant care and life long follow-up.
Provide ward and intensive care management for patients with advanced heart failure, heart transplant recipients and patients supported on MCS. Provide cover for lung transplant patients during on-call weekends.
To ensure that national heart failure and transplant standards are maintained and developed through clinical audit, evidence-based practice and appraisal.
Contribute to the training of junior doctors in accordance with standards required by the Royal Colleges, Postgraduate Dean and hospital.
Demonstrate a commitment to continuing professional development.
6. Expand Advanced Heart Failure, MCS and Transplant-related research as part of an agreed research plan.
