The Role
As a Fire & Security Engineer, you'll be responsible for the installation, servicing, maintenance, commissioning and fault finding of fire and electronic security systems across a portfolio of commercial buildings.
You'll work across a variety of systems including fire alarms, CCTV, access control and intruder alarms, providing both planned and reactive support.
This is a field-based, client-facing position, so we're looking for an engineer who can work independently, diagnose faults effectively and deliver a professional service on every site.
Key Responsibilities
- Service and maintain commercial fire alarm systems
- Install, commission and upgrade fire alarm systems
- Install, commission and maintain CCTV systems
- Install and service access control systems
- Maintain and fault-find intruder alarm systems
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
- Respond to reactive maintenance and system faults
- Diagnose electrical and electronic security system faults
- Complete repairs, remedial works and system upgrades
- Carry out small installation and project works
- Complete testing, certification and compliance documentation
- Produce accurate electronic job reports
- Liaise with clients, site teams and the wider engineering team
- Ensure work complies with relevant British Standards and industry regulations
- Maintain excellent health & safety standards
What We're Looking For
We're particularly interested in engineers with experience across multiple fire and security disciplines, including:
- Fire alarm systems
- CCTV systems
- Access control
- Intruder alarms
- Electrical fault finding
- Installation and commissioning
- Service and maintenance
You'll need to be comfortable managing your own workload and travelling between commercial sites throughout Manchester and the North West.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience as a Fire & Security Engineer or similar
- Experience servicing and maintaining commercial fire alarm systems
- CCTV experience
- Access control experience
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Good electrical knowledge
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently
- Full UK Driving Licence
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- FIA qualifications
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
- ECS / CSCS Card
- JIB Gold Card
- SSAIB / NSI experience
- Facilities Management or Building Services experience
- Experience with addressable and conventional fire alarm systems
- Network / IP CCTV experience
Experience with systems and manufacturers such as Gent, Advanced, Morley, Kentec, C-Tec, Notifier, Apollo, Paxton, Hikvision, Avigilon, Gallagher, Honeywell or similar would also be advantageous.
On-Call
The position includes participation in a shared out-of-hours emergency call-out rota.
An additional retainer / standby payment is provided for participating in the rota, with full details discussed during the interview process.
