Experienced Weekend Barista & Waiter/Waitress
The Garden Room Café is looking for an experienced Waiter/Waitress with Barista skills to join our growing team in Poole.
We are a new café, open for less than a month, and we are already welcoming more and more customers every week. Because of this, we are looking for reliable, confident and motivated people who want to grow with us and become part of a professional, friendly and supportive team.
This role is mainly for Saturdays and Sundays, with the possibility of extra days in the future as the café continues to grow.
We are looking for someone who can provide excellent customer service, prepare quality coffee, work well during busy periods, and also stay proactive and organised during quieter times.
About the role
This position involves both front-of-house service and barista duties.
The right candidate must be confident taking orders, serving customers, preparing drinks, using a till system, organising orders with the chef, and helping the team deliver a smooth and professional service.
We are looking for someone who understands that a great café experience is not only about good food and coffee, but also about timing, presentation, communication and attention to detail.
Main responsibilities
- Welcoming customers in a friendly and professional way
- Taking food and drink orders accurately
- Learning and using our till system
- Preparing and serving high-quality coffee and hot drinks
- Making cappuccinos, lattes, flat whites, americanos, espressos and double espressos
- Steaming and texturing milk correctly
- Understanding when a coffee is well prepared and properly served
- Serving food and drinks to tables
- Organising orders with the chef to help food and drinks come out on time
- Supporting the team during busy service periods
- Staying productive and organised during quieter periods
- Keeping the front-of-house area clean, tidy and presentable
- Restocking cups, drinks, coffee, milk and service items
- Helping with a good opening and closing routine
- Providing excellent service and a positive experience for every customer

- Experienced as a waiter/waitress, barista or café team member
- Confident preparing professional coffee drinks

- Able to stay organised when the café is full

- Able to communicate well with the chef and the rest of the team
- Willing to learn our way of working
- Interested in growing within the company
- Able to work Saturdays and Sundays
- Eligible to work in the UK
Barista experience required
Applicants must have knowledge of preparing:
- Cappuccinos
- Lattes
- Flat whites
- Americanos
- Espressos
- Double espressos
Experience steaming milk and serving coffee to a good standard is important for this role.
Additional experience
Any previous kitchen or food preparation experience will be considered a plus and may be useful for future opportunities within the café.
