We are looking for proactive Sous Chef to join our team. The ideal candidate will not only have a passion for cooking but will be able to manage a team of cooks whilst overseeing the preparation of meals. This position requires an individual with strong leadership skills, excellent food safety and a thorough understanding of food safety and hygiene standards. The right individual will also ensure that the food is made to the highest quality and that all kitchen staff adhere to health and safety standards.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the head chef in overseeing the kitchen operations and ensuring the smooth running of the restaurant.
- Help in planning and developing menus, taking into consideration customer preferences and seasonal ingredients.
- Prepare and cook high-quality dishes according to established recipes and standards.
- Supervise and train kitchen staff, ensuring they adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed.
- Collaborate with the head chef to create new dishes and improve existing recipes.
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a sous chef or similar role in a restaurant setting.
- In-depth knowledge of culinary techniques and practices.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and train kitchen staff.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and a passion for creating delicious dishes.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
