Overview
We are looking for a motivated and commercially minded Estimator to join our growing pre-construction team.
This role is central to securing future business and will involve preparing accurate, competitive and commercially viable tender submissions for synthetic turf, sports surfacing and associated civil engineering projects across Scotland. Working closely with operational, commercial and supply chain teams, you will play a key part in helping Allsports maintain its position as Scotland's leading sports surface contractor.

Responsibilities
Estimating & Tendering
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for synthetic turf, sports surfacing and associated civil engineering works.
- Review tender documents, specifications, drawings and bills of quantities.
- Undertake quantity take-offs and pricing exercises.
- Analyse project risks and opportunities during the tender stage.
- Prepare competitive tender submissions, ensuring compliance with client requirements.
- Develop cost plans and budget estimates for negotiated and framework projects.
- Present tender reviews and recommendations to senior management before submission.
Supply Chain & Procurement
- Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Negotiate pricing and commercial terms where appropriate.
- Maintain and develop relationships with key suppliers and subcontract partners.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of subcontractor and supplier databases.
- Monitor market rates and industry trends affecting project costs.
Commercial & Project Handover
- Provide detailed handover information to project delivery teams following contract award.
- Assist in identifying value engineering opportunities.
- Support project teams with commercial advice throughout the project lifecycle.
- Contribute to change management and cost impact assessments where required.
Reporting & Business Improvement
- Maintain accurate estimating records and pricing databases.
- Support continuous improvement of estimating processes and procedures.
- Assist with bid performance reviews and lessons learned exercises.
- Provide regular reporting on tender pipeline activity, success rates and workload forecas

Skills
Essential
- Experience in estimating within construction, civil engineering, groundworks or a related sector.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and contract documents.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tender submissions simultaneously and work to strict deadlines.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Willingness to travel throughout Scotland when required
Desirable
- HNC/HND or Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related discipline.
- Knowledge of sports surfacing, groundworks, landscaping or specialist civil engineering projects.
- Familiarity with NEC and JCT forms of contract.
- Understanding of public sector procurement and framework contracts.
- Experience working on projects for local authorities, schools, universities or sports governing bodies.
