We’re looking for a Butcher’s Assistant to join our friendly butchery team and help us continue producing and serving the high-quality products our customers know and love.
The Role
Working alongside our experienced butchery team, your responsibilities will include:
- Keeping our butchery displays well stocked, attractive and fully replenished
- Preparing and packing a range of fresh produce
- Making our popular Scotch eggs and other added-value products
- Assisting with stock control and helping to minimise waste
- Maintaining excellent standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and health & safety
- Supporting the butchery team with the day-to-day running of the department
- Working as part of a close-knit team to maintain the high standards Villa Farm Shop is known for
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic, dependable and takes pride in their work.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Good knife skills or previous food preparation experience – desirable but not essential
- A passion for producing high-quality products with excellent attention to detail
- A good understanding of food hygiene and health & safety practices
- The confidence to work independently and use their own initiative
- A positive, reliable and hardworking attitude
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- The ability to work well as part of a team
- A genuine enthusiasm for working within a family-run, independent business
Previous butchery experience would be an advantage, but it isn’t essential for the right person.

Working Hours
This is a part-time position, working three days per week on a two-week rotating rota.
Week 1
- Wednesday: 8:30am – 5:00pm
- Thursday: 8:30am – 5:00pm
- Friday: 8:30am – 5:00pm
Week 2
- Thursday: 8:30am – 5:00pm
- Friday: 8:30am – 5:00pm
- Saturday: 7:30am – 4:00pm
Applicants must be able to work the above rota, including the alternate Saturday.
