Role: Tax Manager (In house)
Location: Leeds, LS15 8GB. We operate a hybrid schedule, 2-3 days a week in the office based at Thorpe Park, Leeds.
Salary: £65,000 - £75,000 per annum pro rata, plus up to a 10% annual discretionary bonus plus extensive benefits

We are seeking an experienced in-house tax professional to lead the Group’s tax activities, bringing a significant proportion of work currently undertaken by external advisers into the business. The role will provide expert support across all areas of taxation, ensuring compliance, effective tax governance, and commercially focused advice to support growth, acquisitions, restructurings, and broader business objectives. Acting as the organisation’s primary tax specialist, the successful candidate will work closely with stakeholders across the Group and manage relationships with external advisers where specialist support is required.

What you’ll be doing?
- Manage the Group’s tax compliance obligations across corporation tax, VAT, employment taxes and other relevant taxes, ensuring accurate and timely filings
- Support tax reporting requirements, including tax provisions and tax disclosures for statutory and group financial reporting
- Provide tax guidance and advice to stakeholders across the business, helping to facilitate informed commercial decision-making
- Support tax aspects of mergers, acquisitions, disposals and corporate restructurings, including due diligence activities and review of transaction documentation
- Advise on group tax matters, including group structures, intercompany arrangements, transfer pricing and international tax considerations
- Monitor, identify and assess tax risks, supporting compliance with applicable tax legislation and regulatory requirements
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of tax governance frameworks, policies and internal controls
- Help build internal tax capability by transitioning appropriate activities from external advisers and enhancing in-house processes
- Maintain effective relationships with external advisers, HMRC and other stakeholders to support tax compliance and advisory activities
- Provide tax support for strategic projects and business initiatives, assessing tax implications and identifying opportunities for efficiency and risk management.
Who are we looking for?
- Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) qualification preferred
- ACA, ACCA or equivalent professional qualification desirable
- Strong technical tax knowledge across a broad range of taxes
- Ability to interpret complex tax matters and communicate them clearly to a range of stakeholders
- Commercial awareness with the ability to balance technical requirements and business objectives
- Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills
- Effective planning and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing demands
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Proactive, adaptable and solution-focused approach
- Confidence to work independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues across the business
- Curious and inquisitive mindset, with a willingness to challenge constructively and contribute to continuous improvement
Significant tax experience gained within industry, professional practice, or a combination of both
- Experience across multiple taxes, including Corporation Tax, VAT and Indirect Taxes, Employment Taxes, Transfer Pricing and Transaction Taxes
- Experience supporting acquisitions, disposals, tax due diligence activities and business restructurings.
- Experience operating within a multi-entity or group environment
- Previous in-house tax experience beneficial but not essential
