Location: Hybrid working maximum 2 days based from our Gourock head office with travel across our ports and vessels as required.
Contract: Fixed Term Contract for approximately 12 months, full time 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday
Salary: Circa £37k depending on skills and experience - plus benefits including car allowance
Are you organised, proactive and passionate about delivering projects that make a real impact? We're looking for an Assistant Project Manager to join our team and support the successful delivery of a diverse range of maritime and engineering projects.
Working closely with the Senior Project Manager, you'll play a key role in coordinating project activities, maintaining project documentation, engaging with stakeholders, and ensuring projects remain on track. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their project management career while gaining exposure to fleet, engineering and operational projects across our business.
You'll collaborate with colleagues and external partners, contribute to project planning and reporting, and help deliver initiatives that support the ongoing success of our operations.
What You'll Be Doing
As an Assistant Project Manager at CalMac, you'll support the planning, coordination and delivery of projects by:

Assisting project teams throughout the project lifecycle, from initiation through to completion.
- Supporting the successful delivery of current and future projects, taking ownership of assigned activities and workstreams.
- Maintaining project documentation and control systems, ensuring information is accurate, up to date and readily accessible.
- Producing project reports, status updates and performance data for stakeholders.
- Coordinating meetings, preparing minutes and tracking project actions.
- Managing and updating SharePoint sites and project records.
- Participating in vessel and site visits to support project development and implementation.
- Building strong working relationships with internal teams, contractors and external stakeholders.
- Contributing to project reviews, lessons learned activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Supporting departmental processes and ensuring documentation and governance requirements are maintained.
- Undertaking additional project-related tasks as required by the Senior Project Manager.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual with a keen eye for detail and a collaborative approach to working.
Ideally, you'll hold, or be working towards, one of the following:

A recognised Marine Engineering Certificate
- Naval Architecture qualification
- Electrical or Mechanical Engineering HND/HNC
- APM Project Management qualification
You'll also bring:

Excellent organisational and administrative skills with trong written and verbal communication abilities
- Driving licence and car and willingness to travel around our ports and vessels as required
- Confidence in preparing reports, presentations and project documentation
- Good IT skills, including experience with Microsoft Office applications and SharePoint
- A proactive and self-motivated approach
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- A collaborative mindset and the ability to build effective working relationships
