Children and Family Support Worker – Agency Bank Staff
£15.00 per hour | Swansea and surrounding areas | Flexible bank hours
Service Direct is seeking caring, reliable and proactive Children and Family Support Workers to join our agency bank team.
This varied role may involve supporting children, young people and families across three key service areas:
- Family homes
- Community-based services
- Children’s residential settings
You may support children and young people from pre-birth through to 18 years of age, working alongside families, carers and professionals to promote safety, stability, independence and positive outcomes.
Role Responsibilities
Depending on the placement or shift, your responsibilities may include:
- Providing practical and emotional support to children, young people and families in their own homes.
- Supporting children and young people within residential care settings.
- Providing one-to-one or community-based support, including activities, appointments and supervised outings.
- Supporting children and young people to develop independence, confidence and daily living skills.
- Promoting a safe, stable and nurturing environment.
- Accompanying children, young people or families to hospital appointments, social services meetings and other essential appointments.
- Delivering planned, short-term or emergency support.
- Following and implementing individual care plans, placement plans, risk assessments and safety plans.
- Supporting positive behaviour and responding appropriately to distress, conflict or challenging situations.
- Promoting children’s rights, dignity, privacy, choices and wellbeing.
- Maintaining professional boundaries and working effectively with families, carers and multidisciplinary professionals.
- Completing accurate written records, daily notes, incident reports and other required documentation.
- Reporting any safeguarding concerns promptly and in accordance with organisational procedures.
Essential Requirements
Applicants must have:
- A minimum of six months’ relevant experience working with children, young people and/or families.
- Experience completing written records and reports.
- A relevant qualification, such as City & Guilds Level 2 in Children’s Care, Play, Learning and Development, or an equivalent qualification.
- Social Care Wales registration, or eligibility to register, for work with children and young people.
- A full UK driving licence.
- Access to a reliable vehicle.
- A commitment to safeguarding, professional conduct and person-centred support.
- The flexibility to work across family homes, community settings and children’s residential services.
- Registration with our agency before accessing bank shifts.

Licence and Registration
- Full UK Driving Licence: Required
