About Philip Eric Hair
Philip Eric Hair is a growing Afro hair specialist salon based in Golders Green, North West London.
We specialise in wigs, weaves, sew-ins, custom wig making, hair extensions and natural hair care for Afro-textured hair.
Our focus is on creating beautiful, well-finished hair while making sure every client has a comfortable, professional and enjoyable experience.
We are looking for a Junior Hairstylist who is passionate about Afro hair and wants to develop their skills within a growing salon.
You don’t need to know everything. We’re looking for someone with a good foundation, the right attitude and a genuine desire to learn.
The Role
You will work alongside the salon owner and support the day-to-day running of the salon while developing your own skills working with Afro-textured hair.
The role will initially be approximately 50% assisting and 50% hands-on hair work, with the opportunity to take on more responsibility as your skills and confidence develop.
You will work with clients booked through Philip Eric Hair rather than being expected to bring your own clientele.
Initially, you’ll focus on natural hair preparation, wig and weave preparation, washing, treatments, blow-drying and assisting with sew-ins.
As you develop, you’ll receive training in full sew-in installations and wig making, with the opportunity to eventually take on your own clients through Philip Eric Hair.
What You Should Already Be Able To Do
We are looking for someone with a foundation in Afro hair who can confidently demonstrate:
- Neat cornrowing and braiding.
- Preparing Afro-textured hair for wigs, weaves and sew-ins.
- Washing and conditioning natural hair.
- Blow-drying natural hair.
- Basic sew-in techniques.
Professional salon experience is welcome but not essential.
We are also open to applicants who have developed their skills through working on themselves, friends or family, provided they can demonstrate a good standard of work.
A portfolio or photographs of your work will be required.
Skills We Can Develop With You
You don’t need to already be an expert in everything.
Training and guidance will be provided in areas including:
- Full sew-in installations.
- Wig making and construction.
- Wig preparation.
- Advanced natural hair preparation.
- Hair treatments and care.
- Working efficiently within a professional salon environment.
- Client and salon procedures.
Your Responsibilities
- Cornrowing and preparing Afro-textured hair for wigs, weaves and sew-ins.
- Washing, conditioning and treating natural hair.
- Blow-drying and preparing hair for appointments.
- Assisting with sew-in installations.
- Preparing wigs and hair extensions.
- Learning and developing your wig-making skills.
- Keeping the salon clean, tidy and organised.
- Organising towels and salon supplies.
- Helping with stock organisation.
- Preparing and packing hair orders when required.
- Assisting with answering calls and messages.
- Supporting basic salon administration.
- Helping maintain a positive and welcoming client experience.
- Taking initiative and contributing ideas that can help improve the salon.

Dress Code
As you will be working directly with clients, we maintain a professional standard of presentation.
Dress code: black clothing with a Philip Eric Hair apron.
You should always be clean, neat and presentable.
Development & Progression
We’re not looking for someone to remain a junior forever.
Our aim is to help the right person develop into a confident Afro hairstylist who can eventually manage their own clients through Philip Eric Hair.
There is potential for:
Junior Hairstylist → Stylist → Senior Stylist
