Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Facilities Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and improving the organisation’s facilities and equipment to ensure smooth operational functionality. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, leadership qualities, and excellent customer service skills. The Facilities Technician will play a vital part in ensuring that all systems operate efficiently and safely, contributing to a productive working environment.
Duties
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems across the facility.
- Troubleshoot issues with equipment, including programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and electrical systems.
- Read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and wiring diagrams to diagnose faults accurately.
- Conduct welding tasks as required for repairs or modifications of equipment or structural components.
- Oversee and supervise maintenance projects, ensuring safety standards are adhered to at all times.
- Lead small teams or supervise contractors during maintenance or installation activities.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs for compliance purposes.
- Assist in the installation of new equipment and upgrades to existing systems.
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing internal client needs promptly and professionally.
- Ensure the facility remains compliant with health and safety regulations through regular inspections.
Qualifications
- Proven experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), schematics, electrical systems, and mechanical knowledge.
- Strong background in maintenance, repair, welding, and troubleshooting of industrial equipment.
- Demonstrable supervisory or leadership experience in a facilities or maintenance environment.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Good communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Customer service orientation with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Relevant qualifications in electrical or mechanical engineering or related fields are preferred but not essential if accompanied by substantial practical experience.
