Become the trusted adult who changes a young person's future
As a Volunteer Independent Visitor, you'll be matched with a child in care who needs someone reliable in their corner. Many of these young people have limited social contact outside their care setting—your presence could be the stability that transforms their outlook.
Location: St Helens
Commitment: Approx. 2–4 hours per month (minimum 2-year commitment preferred)
Role Type: Volunteer
You'll spend quality time with your matched young person through simple, meaningful activities:
-
Going for walks or outings
-
Visiting the cinema or local attractions
-
Helping build confidence and social skills
-
Simply talking and spending relaxed time together
Your presence provides stability, encouragement, and someone to listen—helping a young person feel valued and supported.
-
Develop a positive, supportive relationship with a young person
-
Meet regularly (usually monthly) and maintain consistent contact
-
Respect boundaries, confidentiality, and safeguarding policies
-
Provide feedback to the coordinating organisation as required
We're looking for individuals who are:
-
Friendly, patient, and empathetic
-
Reliable and able to commit long-term
-
Good listeners with strong communication skills
-
Open-minded and respectful of diversity
-
Aged 18 or over
You don't need professional experience—just the ability to care, listen, and be present.
-
The chance to make a meaningful difference in a young person's life
-
Full training and ongoing support
-
Enhanced DBS check provided
-
Reimbursement of agreed expenses
-
