Job Description
Purpose of Role:
To support the setting in providing a safe, caring, and stimulating environment for children in line with Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and safeguarding standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in planning and delivering age- appropriate activities that promote learning and development.
Supervise and engage children in play and learning activities, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
Support children’s emotional, social, and educational development in a nurturing environment.
Assist with meal preparation, feeding, and maintaining hygiene routines, including nappy changing and toilet training.
Ensure a clean, safe, and organised environment by following health and safety guidelines.
Observe, record, and report children’s progress and any concerns immediately.
Attend training and development sessions as required.
Carry out any other reasonable duties as required
Person specification
Minimum Level 2 Qualification in Childcare
Experience working with young children in a childcare setting.
Understanding of child development and the EYFS framework
Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures
Good communication skills with children, parents and colleagues
Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions effectively
Patience, reliability, and a caring nature
First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain one)
DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance.
Desirable criteria:
Qualification in Childcare
Previous experience in a setting
Understanding of inclusive practices and working with children with additional needs.
Food hygiene certification (or willingingness to obtain one)
Training in safeguarding
Additional information:
The successful candidate must adhere to safeguarding policies and undergo regular training
This role involves standing for long periods, lifting children, and working indoors and outdoors
