Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable Yard Operative and Forklift Driver to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing materials within the yard, operating forklifts safely and efficiently, and supporting warehouse operations. This role requires a proactive approach to materials handling, equipment maintenance, and ensuring the smooth flow of goods in and out of the facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Loading and unloading customer and supplier vehicles safely and efficiently.
- Operating a forklift truck (valid forklift licence required).
- Assisting customers with the collection of building materials.
- Checking customer tickets and delivery notes before goods leave the yard.
- Carrying out regular stock checks and maintaining accurate stock records.
- Organising and maintaining the yard to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
- Handling heavy building materials safely and responsibly.
- Assisting with deliveries and general yard duties as required.
- Maintaining high standards of customer service.
Essential Requirements
- Valid Forklift Truck Licence.
- Good level of physical fitness and ability to handle heavy materials.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills and a positive attitude.
- Knowledge of building materials and the builders' merchant trade is preferred.
Desirable
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Previous experience working in a builders merchant, construction yard, or similar environment.
