Transport Planner – Contract Manufacturing (Canning)

About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and highly organised Transport Planner to join our growing contract manufacturing business specialising in canned products. This role is critical in ensuring the efficient movement of goods, managing transport schedules, and maintaining compliance requirements associated with bonded goods.
The ideal candidate will have previous transport planning experience within manufacturing, FMCG, or the food industry, with strong coordination skills and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate inbound and outbound transport operations
- Manage deliveries and collections to ensure customer deadlines are met
- Liaise with hauliers, warehouses, customers, and internal production teams
- Handle and monitor bonded goods movements in line with HMRC and customs requirements
- Maintain accurate transport and customs documentation
- Optimise loads and routes to improve efficiency and reduce costs
- Monitor stock movements and support inventory accuracy
- Resolve transport-related issues quickly and effectively
- Ensure compliance with food safety, transport, and legal regulations
- Support continuous improvement within logistics operations
Requirements
- Previous experience in a Transport Planner or Logistics Coordinator role
- Experience handling bonded goods is essential
- Food industry or FMCG experience preferred, ideally within manufacturing or canning
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
- Good IT skills, including transport management systems and Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of customs or excise procedures would be advantageous

Pay: £35,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
