On behalf of Network Rail, we are looking for a Senior Project Engineer for a 6 month hybrid contract based in Manchester.

As a Senior Project Engineer, your main responsibilities will be:
- To lead and manage the use of appropriate engineering standards in relation to design and construction, on all projects within the national programme so they comply with legislation.
- Implementing Network RAIL systems and procedures to deliver a cost effective, high quality and safe approach to design, construction, commissioning and other technical activities on relevant projects.
- To monitor the competence of all Project Engineers working on projects within the functional discipline and provide functional guidance, direction and briefing, along with applying engineering controls and procedures to all projects so all design and construction contracts include reference to appropriate RAILway Group and Network RAIL Company standards
- To apply relevant techniques and procedures of quantified and qualitative risk assessment and HAZOP analysis to all projects and check whether the environmental aspects of all projects are managed in accordance with Network RAIL Environmental Policy.
- To ensure projects are monitored for compliance, and advise project and programme management in respect of all construction activities, testing and commissioning, and site supervision.
- To undertake reviews of design and construction activities.
Essential:
- Have a good understanding of the role of Designated Project Engineer as defined in NR/L2/RSE/02009.
- Be proactive and well organised.
- Be able to perform with minimal supervision and guidance.
- Be able to develop good relationships with stakeholders within the Network Rail Routes and Regions, and 3rd parties, including the key tripartite relationship between the DPE, Sponsor and Project Manager.
- Demonstrable experience leading and coordinating multi-disciplinary engineering teams across complex rail infrastructure projects, ensuring effective integration of civil, track, signalling, E&P and telecoms disciplines throughout the project lifecycle.
- Degree qualified in an engineering discipline (or equivalent professional experience) with a strong understanding of Network Rail standards, engineering assurance processes and project delivery within a railway environment.
