RETAIL STORE MANAGER
ROLE PURPOSE
The Retail Store Manager is responsible for the efficient day-to-day management of the petrol forecourt and retail store, driving sales growth, profitability, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction in accordance with company policies and procedures.
The Retail Store Manager is accountable for store performance, staff management, stock control, merchandising standards, compliance requirements, and maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for customers and employees.
ROLE OVERVIEW
The Retail Store Manager will oversee all aspects of store operations, ensuring the business achieves sales targets, maintains high operational standards, and delivers excellent customer service. The role includes responsibility for managing employees, monitoring performance, implementing company initiatives, and ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, company, and brand requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the petrol forecourt, convenience store, and any associated concessions.
- Lead, motivate, and manage store employees to deliver excellent customer service and achieve business objectives.
- Recruit, train, develop, and support team members, conducting performance reviews and identifying training requirements.
- Manage staff scheduling and labour allocation to ensure operational efficiency and appropriate staffing levels.
- Monitor store sales performance, identify opportunities for growth, and implement actions to maximise revenue and profitability.
- Maintain effective stock control procedures, including ordering, stock rotation, stock accuracy, and minimising waste and shrinkage.
- Ensure planograms, merchandising displays, promotional activity, and pricing are implemented accurately and within required timescales.
- Monitor inventory levels and supplier deliveries to ensure product availability and operational continuity.
- Ensure high standards of store presentation, cleanliness, safety, and maintenance are consistently achieved.
- Resolve customer enquiries, complaints, and service issues promptly and professionally.
- Ensure all company, brand, and operational due diligence requirements are completed accurately and on time.
- Maintain accurate records and complete all required daily, weekly, and monthly reporting and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation, Food Standards Agency requirements, licensing regulations, and all relevant legal obligations.
- Ensure compliance with age-restricted sales legislation, including Challenge 25 procedures and staff training requirements.
- Prepare for and support internal, external, company, and brand audits, ensuring all standards are maintained.
- Monitor operational performance and implement continuous improvements to enhance efficiency, customer satisfaction, and profitability.
REQUIREMENTS
- Experience as a Retail manager or similar role.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational and management skills are result driven and have a positive can do attitude and can work well under pressure.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Knowledge of forecourt retail operations and customer service best practices.
- Experience managing store operations, sales performance, stock control, and customer service.

Pay: £32,000.00 per year
