About this Role
Hospitality On Campus is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join its hospitality team as Assistant Hospitality Services Manager, to assist with the cafe and hospitality operation within the Manchester Museum on the main University campus.
Manchester Museum forms part of the University’s family of Cultural Institutions and is one of the region’s most popular visitor attractions.
The Museum Cafe / Coffee bar
Opened in 2023, this 70-seater cafe provides a relaxed dining offer for the University and visitors. Offering a range of options for breakfast and lunch, the restaurant offers a unique location on campus to entertain and dine. The facility is also available for private hire events in the evenings, being able to host receptions, buffets and evening dinners.
The Position
The successful post holder will be responsible for running the cafe and coffee bar and conference hospitality on a day-to-day basis, working closely and collaboratively with colleagues across Conferencing and Hospitality to maximise the success of the business.
This role is ideal for an individual who can realise the potential of the business and relish the opportunity to work with colleagues to help grow and develop this business area.
Successful candidates should ideally have experience of running/managing restaurants in similar venues and/or experience in managing a variety of conferencing and events.
Applicants should have a Hospitality and/or business-related subject qualification. They should have hospitality/event/wedding knowledge, service and skills gained in a similarly diverse environment, together with demonstrable knowledge and skills of delivering customer service excellence. Sound written and verbal communication, together with a good understanding of IT and industry-relevant software are key to this role, together with a thorough understanding of event administration and financial responsibilities.
A natural positive attitude towards a busy/pressurised environment and the ability to work flexibly across the week to the requirements the business is essential to this role.
This is a full-time role, working 40 hours a week across 5 days out of 7, including evenings and weekends to suit the needs of the events that are taking place.
