Bar Back
Century Club, Soho | Full-time / Part-time
The club
Century is an independent private members' club on Shaftesbury Avenue, in the middle of Soho. Five floors, a rooftop terrace, 1,800 members, and events most nights. If you want to learn to bartend properly in a room that is genuinely busy, this is where you start.
The role
You keep the bar running. Ice, glassware, stock, prep, cleanliness. The bartenders can only move as fast as you supply them, so on a busy service you set the pace of the whole bar. This is a training role with a clear route behind the bar.
What you will do
- Keep bars stocked with spirits, beer, wine, mixers, ice and garnish throughout service
- Prepare garnish, syrups, batches and mise en place to spec
- Run glassware: collect, wash, polish and rotate so the bar never runs dry
- Change kegs, gas and lines, and support cellar management and deliveries
- Keep the bar, back bar, fridges and cellar clean and to hygiene standard
- Support close-down, deep cleaning and stock counts
- Clear tables and support the floor team when the bar is quiet
What we are looking for
- Energy and pace. You will be moving for the length of your shift
- Reliability above all. The bar cannot function if you are not there
- A willingness to learn. We will teach you the rest
- Physically able to lift kegs and cases and work on your feet
- Hospitality experience is useful but not required
- Right to work in the UK
Pay: From £14.00 per hour
Work Location: In person
