Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Line Cook to join our busy kitchen team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of dishes in accordance with our restaurant standards. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop culinary skills and gain valuable restaurant experience in a fast-paced environment. The successful applicant will be committed to food safety, quality, and customer satisfaction. This will be a food stall at Edinburgh Street food called Hook & Heat, from the creators of Old Pal Bar and Kitchen. The food will be focused on Scottish fish and seafood classics with a twist.
Duties
- Prepare ingredients and cook menu items according to recipes and specifications
- Ensure all food is prepared in a timely manner to meet service demands
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations, adhering to food safety standards
- Assist in the presentation of dishes to ensure visual appeal
- Follow health and safety regulations at all times, including proper handling of food and equipment
- Support team members during busy periods to ensure smooth kitchen operations
- Restock supplies and ingredients as needed to maintain efficient workflow
Skills
- Proven experience in food preparation and cooking within a restaurant or hospitality environment
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and shift patterns
- Prior experience serving customers or working in a customer-facing role is advantageous but not essential
