Job Overview
We are looking for an organised, kind and caring individual to join our team at Jurassic Childcare in Budleigh. We are looking for someone with great communication skills and an ability to lead from time to time. We operate two main rooms in a mixed-age setting. You will need to be comfortable working with all age ranges from birth to 5 years. We do our own cooking in house, where you show competence in the kitchen, you will be required to cook as well. We are looking for someone who has a recognised level 3 qualification in childcare. Where additional training is required beyond this, we can support you in your professional development.
Following a successful 6 month probationary period, your hourly rate will be increased to reflect your qualification and responsibilities within your role.
Duties
- Plan, organise, and deliver age-appropriate activities that promote learning and development in line with early childhood education standards
- Supervise and support children’s daily routines, ensuring their safety and wellbeing at all times
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment that encourages curiosity, independence, and social interaction
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop personalised care plans for each child
- Maintain accurate records of children’s progress and behaviour
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding their child’s development and daily experiences
- Lead and mentor junior staff or apprentices, promoting best practices in childcare management and leadership
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, including safeguarding procedures
- Drive organisational initiatives to enhance the quality of care provided
Requirements
- Proven experience working with children in a childcare or nursery setting, ideally with nursery experience
- Strong understanding of early childhood education principles and child development stages
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
- Demonstrated management and leadership abilities within a childcare environment
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also taking initiative independently
- Valid driving licence is desirable for transporting children or attending off-site activities
- Childcare qualifications recognised by relevant authorities (e.g., CACHE Level 3 or equivalent) are preferred but not essential for all roles
- Passionate about working with young children and committed to their holistic development
