Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Cook/Kitchen Assistant to join our team at a residential care home. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing nutritious and appealing meals for residents, ensuring food safety standards are maintained, and supporting the overall operation of the kitchen. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to the well-being of residents through quality meal provision in a caring environment.
Duties
- Prepare and cook a variety of meals in accordance with dietary requirements and preferences of residents
- Assist with food preparation, including chopping, portioning, and plating dishes
- Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene in line with legal regulations and company policies
- Ensure all kitchen equipment is clean, well-maintained, and stored correctly after use
- Support with the organisation of the kitchen, including stock rotation and inventory checks
- Serve meals to residents in a friendly and professional manner, ensuring a positive dining experience
- Follow all health and safety procedures to prevent accidents or food contamination
- Assist with cleaning duties within the kitchen area to uphold cleanliness standards
Qualifications
- Experience in food preparation or cooking within a commercial or residential setting is preferred
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and hygiene standards
- Previous experience working in a kitchen, restaurant, or catering environment is advantageous
- Ability to prepare meals efficiently while maintaining quality standards
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail
- Friendly demeanour with excellent communication skills
- Willingness to learn new recipes and culinary techniques
- Ability to work as part of a team in a busy environment
