We are seeking a skilled and motivated Electrician to join our team at Vanguard LTD. The successful candidate will carry out a wide range of electrical installation, maintenance, inspection, testing, fault-finding, and repair work across domestic, commercial, and solar PV systems. This role requires a high standard of workmanship, strong problem-solving skills, and a commitment to delivering excellent customer service while maintaining compliance with current electrical regulations and health and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
Industrial Electrical Work
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems within industrial and manufacturing environments.
- Install and terminate SWA, XLPE, control, and instrumentation cables.
- Install and maintain cable containment systems, including ladder rack, cable tray, trunking, conduit, and steel containment.
- Install and commission motors, pumps, control panels, motor control centres (MCCs), and distribution equipment.
- Perform fault-finding on three-phase systems, control circuits, and industrial machinery.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance, and emergency breakdown repairs.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings.
- Assist with plant shutdowns, upgrades, and commissioning projects.
- Ensure compliance with industrial safety procedures, lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, and relevant regulations.
- Work safely in live industrial environments while minimising operational downtime.
Domestic Electrical Work
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems in residential properties.
- Carry out consumer unit replacements and upgrades.
- Install lighting, sockets, switches, smoke alarms, and electrical accessories.
- Diagnose and rectify electrical faults efficiently.
- Complete electrical inspections, testing, and certification.
- Ensure all work complies with current wiring regulations and building standards.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and professional working environment in customers' homes.
Commercial Electrical Work
- Install and maintain electrical systems in offices, retail units, schools, industrial units, and commercial premises.
- Install containment systems including conduit, trunking, cable tray, and basket.
- Install lighting, emergency lighting, fire alarm interfaces, distribution boards, and power circuits.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance.
- Perform fault-finding and repairs with minimal disruption to business operations.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings and specifications.
- Complete inspection, testing, and commissioning of installations.
Solar PV Work - you may occasionally help with this
- Install, commission, and maintain solar PV systems.
- Install inverters, battery storage systems, isolators, and associated equipment.
- Perform fault diagnosis and repairs on existing solar PV installations.
- Carry out system testing and commissioning.
- Ensure installations comply with current industry standards and manufacturer requirements.
- Provide customers with system handovers and basic operational guidance.
General Responsibilities
- Follow all health and safety procedures and risk assessments.
- Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment in good working order.
- Complete all required paperwork, certification, and digital job reports accurately.
- Liaise professionally with customers, colleagues, contractors, and suppliers.
- Work independently or as part of a team.
- Participate in an on-call rota where required.
- Keep up to date with current electrical regulations, products, and technologies.
Essential Requirements
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent).
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification (BS 7671).
- AM2 qualification.
- Inspection and Testing qualification (City & Guilds 2391 or equivalent) preferred.
- Experience in domestic and commercial electrical installations.
- Experience installing and maintaining solar PV systems.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Desirable Qualifications
- Solar PV installation qualification if you have it.
- Battery storage installation experience.
- EV charger installation experience.
- ECS Gold Card.
- IPAF and PASMA certification.
- First Aid at Work qualification.
