Job Summary
Mini Steps Daycare Nursery are seeking to appoint one Level 3 Early Years Educator to join team of staff in a lively, friendly and rapidly expanding setting.
You will become part of a well-established team within our childcare provision, with the aim of delivering high quality childcare whilst nurturing and contributing towards a safe, secure and caring environment for all of our children.
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a good body of work built up in a professional and aspiring environment to complement their academic accomplishments.
Purpose of Post
To assist the team leader and team in providing high quality childcare and planned activities appropriate to the age and development stage of the children. To maintain a safe, secure and caring environment.

Responsibilities and Duties
- To assist the nursery team in providing a friendly, caring and relaxing environment in order to encourage and develop children in our care.
- To ensure all daily routines are adhered to
- To plan, organise and carry out activities, organising individual interests and projects.
- Support the team leader in supervising and monitoring students and modern apprentices.
- Undertake domestic duties within the setting, e.g. preparation of snacks, washing and cleaning of equipment.
- To settle new children and provide on going support, under a key worker system, liaising with parents and maintaining good communications.
- To maintain children’s records and carry out observations and assessments
- To assist in maintaining a safe, clean and tidy environment.
- To keep abreast of current issues and to attend training as necessary
- Contribute to and participate in team meetings/team activities/parents evenings outside of work hours if needed.
- Ensure all policies and procedures are adhered to and implemented.
- Respect confidentiality within the setting
- To communicate with parents and other visitors in a calm, friendly and efficient manner
- To take reasonable care of yourself and others, complying with the nursery health and safety rules and risk assessments
- To carry out any ad hoc projects or duties as required by the team leader or senior management
- To be flexible and view the nursery as a whole when being deployed into other areas or rooms.
- Record accidents in the accident book and ensure they are reported to the team leader/ senior practitioner so parent’s can be informed and a signature can be sought.
- To ensure safeguarding is given the highest priority, and all policies and reporting procedures are understood and followed at all times.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum Level 3 qualification in Childcare or equivalent e.g. NNEB, CACHE, NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education
- Clear enhanced DBS
- Able to demonstrate a positive interest in children’s learning and development.
- Demonstrable experience of working and leading in an Early Years childcare setting or a setting working with children aged 0-5 years
- Certifications such as First Aid and Food Hygiene
- Knowledge and understanding of child protection procedures
- An understanding of the EYFS
- A passion with skills such as sports, music, drama or arts and how to use this passion to enhance the learning experience
