WMG is seeking to appoint an Assistant Professor (Teaching Focussed) with experience in delivering and/or developing modules in Cyber Security and practice-led digital technologies.
We welcome candidates with strong expertise in areas such as:
Security Operations Centres (SOC)
Threat Hunting and Incident Response
SIEM technologies and Security Information and Event Management
Network traffic analysis and monitoring
Proactive Cyber Defence
Human Behaviour in Cyber Security
Cyber Security consultancy
Digital forensics, vulnerability assessment or penetration testing
This is an education-focused appointment and we are looking for candidates who can demonstrate experience of teaching in higher education, together with a passion for delivering high-quality, practice-led education and achieving excellent student outcomes. Candidates with strong research outputs but limited educational experience are unlikely to be shortlisted.
This is a one-year fixed-term appointment to provide maternity and long-term sickness cover. It offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to WMG’s Digital Technologies and Machine Intelligence education portfolio, working alongside an experienced and collaborative academic team delivering undergraduate and postgraduate programmes with strong industry engagement.

About You
he successful candidate will contribute to the delivery and enhancement of Cyber Security modules with a strong practical and industry-focused approach.
We are particularly interested in applicants with expertise in one or more of:
Security Operations Centre (SOC) operations
Threat hunting and cyber defence
Incident response
SIEM platforms
Network traffic analysis
Human Behaviour in Cyber Security
Cyber Security consultancy
Risk management and security governance
Experience applying these skills within real-world environments and translating professional practice into engaging learning experiences is highly desirable.
For Assistant Professor appointments, candidates should hold a doctorate (or equivalent professional qualification together with a postgraduate qualification) in Cyber Security or a closely related discipline, together with experience of teaching within higher education or professional education.
