We are seeking a permanent commissioning support officer to join Southampton City Council’s Prevention commissioning team.
About the team
The team commissions services that prevent, reduce or delay health and care needs for Southampton residents, including:
- Public health services, including alcohol and drug support, sexual health and tobacco dependence treatment
- Voluntary sector advice, information, guidance and specialist support, including for carers
- Support relating to housing, domestic abuse, hoarding, sex workers and weight management
About the role
You will support the commissioning of high-quality services that improve health, wellbeing and independence. Currently focused on tobacco and domestic abuse, the role covers service development, recommissioning, mobilisation, performance and partnership work.
You will:
- Assess needs and analyse information to inform plans and commissioning options.
- Review services and develop option appraisals to support decisions.
- Engage stakeholders in service development and design.
- Support system redesign projects to achieve agreed improvements.
- Develop outcome-focused service specifications with monitoring and review arrangements.
- Identify priorities and service gaps, proposing effective, value-adding solutions.
- Work with providers and partners to drive continuous improvement, using contracts where appropriate.

About you:
You will have health or care commissioning experience, or transferable skills, and an interest in tobacco, domestic abuse, service improvement and better outcomes for Southampton residents.

Salary: The salary band for this role is £47,181 - £51,357 per annum. The starting salary is £47,181 with annual progression through the salary bands.
