Part-Time Duty Managers – Three Positions
Beale Wildlife Park, Lower Basildon
We are looking for three calm, capable and approachable Duty Managers to join the team at Beale Wildlife Park.
Our preferred rota would be three days on followed by six days off, with the three Duty Managers working together to provide continuous cover. However, we are open to discussing other part-time configurations with the right candidates.
As the senior operational person on site, you will help ensure that the park operates safely, efficiently and provides an excellent experience for our visitors. You will coordinate departments, support staff and volunteers, respond to incidents and make sensible operational decisions throughout the day.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Opening and closing the park
- Checking staffing, safety inspections and operational readiness
- Conducting regular patrols across the site
- Coordinating departments and responding to operational issues
- Dealing professionally with visitor enquiries and complaints
- Responding calmly and confidently to accidents, emergencies and unexpected situations
- Providing first aid and completing incident documentation
- Oversee the safe operation of the splash pool and train
- Maintaining clear radio communication with teams across the park
We are looking for someone who:
- Is calm, confident and decisive in an emergency
- Has excellent customer-service and communication skills
- Is comfortable taking responsibility and making practical decisions
- Can deal professionally with members of the public, including in difficult situations
- Is organised, observant and highly safety-conscious
- Is physically able to patrol a large outdoor site on foot and in a vehicle
- Is available for regular weekend and bank holiday work
- Has previous supervisory experience
You will need to become qualified in First Aid and as a Pool Plant Operator. Full training will be provided and paid for by Beale Wildlife Park, so existing qualifications are helpful but not essential.
This is a varied and responsible role in a unique working environment. It would suit someone who enjoys working with people, stays level-headed under pressure and likes being out and about rather than sitting behind a desk all day.
Hours: 8.00am–5.00pm on a rota, including weekends and bank holidays
This is a temporary fixed term role until 30th Septemebr 2026 when our high season ends. The role will be available for the following season as well, from 1st May 2027 - 30th September 2027.
