The Role
We're looking for a Retrofit Assessor to join our team in Norwich. You'll assess domestic properties and produce the reports that guide what retrofit work actually happens. This is hands-on—you visit homes, measure what's there, check building conditions, and work out what makes sense for each property.
Most of your work will be on council-funded schemes, ECO4, and GBIS projects. The role will involve carrying out high-quality domestic retrofit assessments across a range of government-funded, local authority and privately funded energy-efficiency projects, including ECO4, GBIS, LA Flex, Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS), Council/Local Authority programmes and other retrofit schemes.
We are looking for someone who can provide accurate, detailed assessments with a strong standard of supporting evidence, helping projects progress smoothly through design, coordination, installation and compliance.
A lot of your time is spent in people's homes. You need to be comfortable with that, good at spotting building issues, and able to explain technical things in plain English.
What You'll Do
Your main job is conducting retrofit assessments that follow PAS 2035 standards. On each visit you'll measure the building properly, check its condition (insulation, heating, ventilation, structural issues, damp), and assess how the occupants actually use the space. You'll identify what retrofit measures are feasible and what constraints exist—sometimes that's about the building itself, sometimes about listed building status or heritage considerations.
You'll produce detailed condition surveys and energy performance reports using SAP and PAS Hub software. These reports form the basis of what retrofit work gets recommended. You'll make sure everything fits the funding scheme requirements, whether that's council funding, ECO4, or GBIS. You'll also keep accurate records, attend community engagement events when needed, and be the person explaining what you've found to homeowners.

Key Responsibilities
* Carry out PAS 2035 Retrofit Assessments
* Complete accurate RdSAP assessments
* Carry out property measurements and produce accurate floor plans
* Assess the property’s existing construction, condition and energy performance
* Identify wall, floor, roof, glazing and insulation types
* Record existing heating, hot-water, ventilation and heating-control systems
* Assess existing ventilation provision and requirements
* Gather comprehensive photographic and supporting evidence
* Identify property defects, constraints and potential risks before measures are designed or installed
* Carry out occupancy assessments where required
* Provide the information required by Retrofit Coordinators and designers to determine appropriate improvement measures
* Support assessments for fabric-first and renewable/heating projects, including ASHP installations
* Ensure surveys comply with relevant PAS 2035, TrustMark, RdSAP and scheme-specific requirements
* Upload assessments, photographs and supporting documentation accurately and promptly
* Respond to technical queries and RFIs relating to completed assessments
* Return to properties for additional evidence where genuinely required
* Liaise with Retrofit Coordinators, designers, installers, customers and our internal submissions/compliance team

What We Need From You
You'll need a Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA) qualification and a Retrofit Assessor PAS 2035 qualification (or equivalent). We're looking for someone with 12-18 months of retrofit assessment experience already under their belt—you should be comfortable with SAP energy modelling software and understand building physics and heating systems well enough to spot what needs attention.
On site, accuracy matters. You need to be meticulous about taking measurements and gathering data properly, and you need to be able to explain what you've found to homeowners in a way that makes sense to them. You'll spend a lot of time in people's homes, so you need to be comfortable with that and good at building rapport.
Essential Requirements

* Good working knowledge of PAS 2035
* Strong understanding of RdSAP
* Good knowledge of domestic property construction and common building defects
* Ability to correctly identify different construction types and insulation arrangements
* Excellent attention to detail
* High standard of photographic evidence
* Comfortable using mobile/tablet-based surveying and assessment software
* Full UK driving licence
* Ability to manage your own workload and appointments
* Professional and confident when dealing with customers in their homes

Pay: £39,000.00-£43,000.00 per year
