Health & Safety Advisor / Manager
Maidstone, Kent | £35,000 – £45,000 DOE | Permanent
5 days on site – no hybrid working
Are you a NEBOSH-qualified Health & Safety professional looking for a role where you can genuinely make an impact?
We’re recruiting for a well-established and growing business operating within an industrial environment, looking for someone to take ownership of Health & Safety across its operations.
This could suit an experienced Health & Safety Manager looking for a varied, autonomous position, or an ambitious Health & Safety Advisor ready to step up and develop into a broader management role.
There is plenty of scope to grow with the business, so attitude, potential and the ability to engage people are just as important as job title.
What you'll be doing
- Taking ownership of day-to-day Health & Safety across a busy operational environment
- Carrying out risk assessments, site inspections and audits
- Reviewing working practices and identifying practical ways to reduce risk
- Supporting managers and employees to build a positive, proactive safety culture
- Investigating accidents, incidents and near misses and implementing corrective actions
- Managing Health & Safety documentation, policies and procedures
- Supporting contractor safety, RAMS and permit-to-work processes
- Delivering inductions, toolbox talks and relevant Health & Safety training
- Monitoring compliance and ensuring the business remains up to date with UK legislation
- Supporting operational changes, projects and continuous improvement initiatives
- Working closely with senior management to ensure Health & Safety is considered in everyday operational decisions
What we're looking for
- NEBOSH General Certificate – essential
- Previous Health & Safety experience within an industrial, manufacturing, engineering, production, warehouse or similarly operational environment
- Good working knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation
- Experience with risk assessments, audits, inspections and incident investigation
- A practical, common-sense approach – someone comfortable being visible on site rather than managing Health & Safety purely from behind a desk
- Strong communication skills and the confidence to challenge appropriately when required
- Ability to build relationships with people at all levels
- Organised, proactive and capable of taking ownership
- DSEAR knowledge would be advantageous but isn't essential

Benefits:

- Company pension
