A school in Birmingham is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pastoral Advisor to support pupils' wellbeing, attendance, behaviour, and personal development. This role is ideal for someone who can build positive relationships, provide guidance during difficult situations, and help pupils overcome barriers that may impact their education.
Working closely with pupils, families, teaching staff, and external agencies, you'll help create a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where every learner can thrive.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide pastoral support to pupils across the school
- Support behaviour management and emotional wellbeing initiatives
- Build positive relationships with pupils and families
- Monitor attendance, punctuality, and engagement
- Work alongside staff to identify and address barriers to learning
- Deliver targeted interventions and mentoring support
- Liaise with external agencies and support services where required
- Contribute to safeguarding and pupil welfare processes
Requirements
- Previous experience working with children or young people
- Strong understanding of behaviour, wellbeing, and pastoral support
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations
- Experience within education, youth work, mentoring, or support services desirable
- Strong organisational and record-keeping skills
- DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
