Support Worker
Pay rate: £13.50 Days, £14.00 Waking Nights
We are looking for compassionate, reliable, and enthusiastic Support Workers to join our dedicated team, supporting an 18-year-old gentleman with complex learning disabilities, a significant visual impairment, and communication needs. In this rewarding role, you will provide person-centred support with daily living activities, personal care, medication, mobility, and community access, helping him to live a fulfilling and meaningful life. You will encourage participation in activities he enjoys, including music, sensory experiences, storytelling, outdoor activities, and attending his specialist school. He thrives with routine, consistency, and positive relationships, so we are seeking individuals who are patient, caring, and committed to providing high-quality support tailored to his individual needs.
Key Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality, person-centred care and support.

Assist with personal care and daily living activities.

Support with medication administration and health-related needs.

Promote communication using visual aids and individual communication methods.

Encourage participation in sensory activities, education, hobbies, and community access.

Monitor and respond appropriately to changes in behaviour, wellbeing, and health.

Maintain accurate records and report concerns as required.

Follow care plans, risk assessments, and safeguarding procedures.

Work collaboratively with family members, healthcare professionals, and multidisciplinary teams.

Provide reassurance and consistency during transitions and changes in routine.
Experience & Skills Required

A caring, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting others.

A valid full UK driving licence is preferred.

Excellent communication and observation skills.

Ability to remain calm, responsive, and professional in challenging situations.

Willingness to provide personal care and practical daily living support.

Ability to follow support plans, risk assessments, and behavioural support strategies.

Reliable, flexible, and committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred care.

Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Previous experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities, autism, sensory impairments, or complex needs (desirable).

Experience supporting individuals who communicate non-verbally (desirable).

Knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and person-centred care approaches (desirable).

Experience working within social care, supported living, residential care, education, or healthcare settings (desirable).
