About Fairley Gunn Group
Fairley Gunn Group brings together specialist engineering businesses providing technical services, non destructive testing and practical solutions across a range of industrial sectors.
This position sits within our Radiography Division, supporting Gilligan Engineering Services and NDT Electronic Services.
About the role
We are looking for an experienced Project and Operations Coordinator to provide maternity cover and keep project and operational activity coordinated across both businesses.
You will maintain the live project schedules and coordinate engineering availability, materials, suppliers, customer information and job records from order acceptance through to job closure and invoicing readiness.
The role has no direct reports or formal people management responsibility. However, it carries genuine operational responsibility and day to day autonomy. You will resolve routine scheduling matters within agreed priorities and escalate material capacity, technical, customer or commercial issues to the appropriate person.
What you will be doing
- Maintaining project and operational schedules across GES and NDT
- Coordinating engineering deployment within agreed priorities, consulting the Principal Engineer regarding technical capability and suitability
- Arranging materials, suppliers and subcontract support in time to support agreed delivery dates
- Supporting the preparation and progression of NDT quotations, purchase orders and customer requirements
- Communicating with GES customers where required for scheduling, delivery, handover or issue resolution
- Running or supporting project and scheduling reviews, recording decisions and following actions through
- Identifying capacity constraints, delivery risks and scheduling conflicts early
- Coordinating handover from quotation or order acceptance through to delivery, job closure and invoicing readiness
- Supporting audits, corrective actions and ISO 9001 evidence gathering within NDT
- Placing and progressing routine purchases within delegated financial limits
What we need from you
Essential
- Relevant experience in project, operations or engineering coordination
- Experience controlling multiple live jobs, schedules and competing priorities
- Experience using project trackers, ERP, CRM or comparable operational systems
- Strong organisation, follow through and stakeholder communication skills
- Confidence working autonomously within agreed responsibilities
- A full UK driving licence and access to a suitable vehicle
Desirable
- Experience within engineering, manufacturing, technical services or a similarly operational environment
- Experience supporting ISO 9001 processes
- A relevant project, operations or coordination qualification
The person we are looking for
You will be organised, proactive and comfortable coordinating a varied workload without close supervision. You will maintain a clear and accurate view of live work, follow actions through properly and recognise when you can resolve something yourself and when management or technical input is required.
What we offer
- Salary of £36,000 to £38,000 per annum, depending on experience
- 32 days’ annual leave, including bank holidays, pro rata for the fixed term
- A central and varied position within a specialist engineering group
- Genuine autonomy to coordinate the day to day delivery process
- The opportunity to work alongside experienced technical and operational colleagues
Any appointment will be subject to satisfactory pre employment checks, including a Basic DBS check and any customer or site vetting required for the role.
