Job Description
The primary purpose of this position is to operate and maintain one or more types of gasoline, diesel, or electric powered wheeled vehicles typically having a gross vehicle weight no more than 7.5 tonnes (UK) for example forklift trucks, recycling center machinery and recycling center trucks. The incumbent will drive primarily within the confines of a military installation or under other limited driving conditions (low speeds, regular predetermined routes, etc.) to transport cargo. Also operate fork lifts to facilitate cargo loading/unloading. The incumbent will receive, examine, verify, and identify a wide variety of recycling materials, complete equipment items, technical components, parts, and commodities. They will serve as alternate Recycling Center Leader and lead a work crew performing Recycling Center activities. Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work area
Qualifications and Key skills
- A valid CAT B driving license is required.
- Category C1 training/examination will be funded by the unit. Failure to successfully complete the training/examination within 6 months due to employee negligence will result in separation from the position. If failure to complete the training/examination is due to circumstances outside employee’s control, management will establish a reasonable time frame for completion.
1. Ability to identify various recycling commodities and experience in disposal of solid waste and recycling techniques.
2. Knowledge of accepted warehousing methods, procedures, and material handling techniques; sufficient to receive, store, issue, ship, pickup, deliver, preserve and account for general, oversized, or specialized bulk materials and equipment.
3. Knowledge and skill to safely operate one or more electric, gasoline, diesel, or LPG powered fork lift trucks with a capacity of up to 10,000 pounds.
4. Knowledge of operating safety rules and regulations, including proper maintenance of equipment such as vehicles and machinery.
5. Ability to safely drive and operate a motor vehicle sufficient to manipulate controls for starting, stopping,
backing, and driving vehicles in all types of traffic and road conditions and in judging overhead, side clearance, turning radius, and braking distance.
6. Ability to distribute work assignments to the work crew and to monitor work in progress to assure the use of proper work and safety procedures.
7. Ability to discern when training in work processes or safety procedures is needed and to report it to the supervisor.
8. Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.

1. You will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules and regulations. This position may also be coded as mission essential.
2. You may be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft, and you may also be required to travel to the US or other country, in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training.
3. You will be required to complete a 6-month probationary period.
4. Start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance with organization’s flexible working policies. Overtime may be required and you may be assigned other duties not included in this position description, but that are appropriate to the grade and skill set of the incumbent.
5. You must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
1. Shift work may be required.
2. May on an irregular basis operate passenger vehicles as required.
3. This position requires a physical/medical examination. Lifts and carries objects weighing up to 40 pounds and heavier objects with assistance. Position requires the ability to discern colors, contrast, and depth.
4. Employee will be required to drive various types of motor vehicles including, but not limited to; car, panel van, 7.5 tonne vehicle, high lift picking equipment, forklifts, electric pallet stackers etc.
5. and must be physically capable of operating these.
