Senior Occupational Therapist – Acute Mental Health
Location: Charlwood, Surrey
Salary: £54,315 per annum
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Sanctuary Personnel is excited to be recruiting for an experienced and passionate Senior Occupational Therapist to join a specialist acute mental health service in Charlwood.
This is an excellent opportunity for an Occupational Therapist looking to take the next step in their career within a supportive and forward-thinking environment, working with adults with complex mental health needs.
You will play a key role in delivering high-quality, evidence-based occupational therapy interventions while leading and developing a dedicated therapy team.
About the Service
The service provides specialist care for adult men aged 18+ with complex mental health needs, including personality disorders, substance misuse issues, challenging behaviours, and individuals with forensic backgrounds.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will help service users develop essential life skills, promote recovery, and support positive outcomes through meaningful therapeutic interventions.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate fully within the multidisciplinary team and encourage service users to actively engage in their care pathways.
- Manage and coordinate the implementation of individual occupational therapy treatment plans.
- Deliver evidence-based individual and group interventions focused on rehabilitation, recovery, and independence.
- Complete comprehensive assessments, prioritise patient needs, and develop appropriate intervention plans.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and high-quality clinical records.
- Support and supervise junior members of the occupational therapy team.
- Deliver staff training programmes and contribute to ongoing service development.
- Support service users in developing living skills, educational opportunities, and meaningful leisure activities.
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
- Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- A minimum of 3 years' post-qualification experience.
- Experience working within mental health settings.
- Experience using psychometric and risk assessment tools.
- The ability to engage therapeutically with individuals with complex needs.
- Previous experience supervising or managing junior staff.
- A full, clean UK driving licence.
