About the Role
University Centre Leeds are recruiting for a Course Leader to join our team in the Sports department.
The ideal candidate will have experience primarily in the area of Physical Education and Sports Coaching
We are looking for an experienced teacher to contribute to the management and delivery of our courses. You will manage the planning and running of the Sport curriculum, being responsible for the assessment and progress tracking of a cohort of students.
Courses are delivered from our newly built Mabgate Campus where we deliver a variety of HE programmes.
Our highly skilled team of specialist teachers and support staff takes pride in developing our students’ personal and employability skills to prepare them for their future life and work. You’ll also contribute to the ongoing development of the curriculum, working collaboratively with colleagues and maintaining links with industry to ensure content stays current and relevant. Alongside leading the curriculum you’ll support students with guidance around their next steps, preparing them for further study or careers in the sporting industries.
What You Will Do
- Plan, prepare and deliver schemes of work, session plans, and a range of engaging teaching, learning and assessment resources using a variety of teaching approaches to meet diverse learner needs. You will assess student work, provide clear and constructive feedback, and maintain accurate records of progress across the curriculum

Teaching the principles and practical skills to help our students along the path to a career in sporting industries.

Reflect on and continuously improve your teaching practice, maintain current subject knowledge, and contribute to the review and development of courses to ensure they remain current, relevant, and aligned with industry expectations.

Develop and apply effective assessment strategies, take part in internal verification and moderation processes, and contribute to maintaining high quality standards. You will use evidence-based approaches to promote high levels of retention, achievement, attendance and overall student success.

Working as part of a team to create a nurturing, positive environment for the students.

Overseeing the development and running of the course. This includes having oversight of student retention and progress, as well as ensuring quality in the delivery of the curriculum.
About You
- Relevant, up to date knowledge of your subject specialism.

Able to strategise and co-ordinate delivery of the curriculum.

Hold a relevant vocational qualification or degree in subject area

Hold, or be working towards a recognised teaching qualification.

Enthusiastic and committed to the development and growth of the department.

Comfortable delivering to student groups

An effective communicator with strong organisational skills, able to manage your time and track student progress confidently.
