Our poultry farm based near Prees, North Shropshire is currently looking for an additional Poultry Stockman to join our busy, family run team.
This is a full time role working Monday-Friday with weekend work on a flexible rota basis.
28 Days holiday per year.
Work mobile phone provided by employer.
You must have a full driving licence, or be able to commute freely to, and from site.
The Stockman Role:
Your role is to ensure good welfare of poultry across the site. This role also involves managerial duties.
This will incorporate checking and clearing the birds every day and making sure the farm is functioning correctly (food systems, water, ventilation, etc), keeping the site clean and tidy to our high standards of bio-security.
Identifying and carrying out routine maintenance.
Assisting with clearing and cleaning out at the end of each crop.
Being responsible for alarm cover and flock checking duties on a rotational basis.
Living on site
Skills Required:
Possesses previous farming experience. Ideally within the Poultry Industry. Full training will still be provided to the chosen candidate.
Be proactive, and be able to prioritise given workloads.
Have excellent communication skills.
Be physically fit and healthy, as a significant part of this role is of a physical nature.
Be a reliable person.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Communicate well in English.
Have a flexible approach due to shift work.
Must be observant and conscientious.
Experience driving tractors or similar vehicles (desired but not essential).
Qualifications:
Full UK driving licence
NVQ level 2 in poultry production or similar would be desirable.
Accommodation:
All of our Poultry Stockman are provided with high quality living facilities, and with this specific role you will be provided with a 2 bedroom, 2 story annex with a garden and parking for 2 vehicles.
All stockman are required to live on site.

The farm functions on a 24/7 basis with crop cycles of 6 to 8 weeks in modern broiler houses, many being heated using under-floor heating fuelled by biomass boilers.
Additional Information:
From £26,000 per annum depending on experience.
6 Month probationary period.
Annual salary reviews.
Performance related bonuses every 6-8 weeks once qualified.
Night shifts required approximately twice yearly.
