We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Hotel Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of our 28-bedroom country hotel.
This is a hands-on management position for someone who genuinely enjoys hospitality, takes pride in delivering excellent guest experiences and has the leadership skills to motivate a small, dedicated team.
As a relatively intimate hotel, the role offers the opportunity to have a real influence on every aspect of the guest journey, from the initial welcome through to departure.
The Role
As Hotel Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the smooth, efficient and profitable running of the hotel.
You will lead from the front, supporting your team and ensuring consistently high standards across guest services, bedrooms, housekeeping, food and beverage, maintenance and general hotel operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Take overall responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the hotel.
- Lead, motivate and develop the hotel team, creating a positive working environment.
- Deliver consistently high standards of guest service and hospitality.
- Build strong relationships with guests and encourage repeat business.
- Manage hotel standards, presentation, cleanliness and maintenance.
- Oversee housekeeping and bedroom standards.
- Work closely with the kitchen and food & beverage teams to ensure an excellent dining experience.
- Manage staff rotas, recruitment, training and performance.
- Monitor budgets, costs, stock control and profitability.
- Maximise occupancy, revenue and average room rates.
- Work with the owners/directors on business planning and commercial opportunities.
- Manage guest feedback and resolve any issues professionally and promptly.
- Ensure compliance with health & safety, licensing, food safety and other relevant legislation.
- Manage suppliers, contractors and external relationships.
- Identify opportunities to improve the hotel, its services and its reputation.
- Maintain a visible management presence and lead by example.
About You
We are looking for a confident, personable and commercially minded hotelier who understands that great hospitality starts with great people.
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience managing or running a hotel.
- Strong leadership and people-management skills.
- Excellent guest-service and communication skills.
- Good commercial awareness and financial understanding.
- Experience with hotel systems, reservations and online booking platforms.
- A hands-on approach and willingness to get involved wherever needed.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
- A genuine passion for hospitality and attention to detail.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays when required.
Experience within an independent, boutique or country-house hotel would be particularly advantageous.
